RANCID

Upgrading from 2.3.6 to 3.2 on Debian make sure to change all router.db files from : to ; or when you do a rancid-run, all your configuration will disappear, and all routers will move to a down status. Also Upgrade Perl to perl 5, version 22, subversion 1 (v5.22.1

Verify that the NFS server has exported the directory: showmount -e ServerName mount ServerName:/remote/directory /local/directory mount 192.168.x.x:/XXXX-Store01 /mnt/nfs  

Bind 9.8.1 not working after update

See: http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2011/11/msg01939.html Re: “initializing DST: openssl failure” Nope. Not a problem with the includes under named.conf. It’s looking for this file: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/openssl-1.0.0/engines/libgost.so If you’re running a chrooted bind9, it can’t find this library, obviously. The kluge for this at the moment is to recreate this directory tree under your chroot and copy libgost.so there. After I did that, bind9 now starts up OK.

hp-snmp-agents error: Service snmp has to be enabled to start service hp-snmp-agents

If you get an error like: Setting up hp-snmp-agents (8.5.0.1.1-2) … insserv: Service snmp has to be enabled to start service hp-snmp-agents insserv: exiting now! update-rc.d: error: insserv rejected the script header dpkg: error processing hp-snmp-agents (–configure): subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 Edit the file: /var/lib/dpkg/info/hp-snmp-agents.postinst and change the “update-rc.d …” to “update-rc.d -f …” apt-get -f install and you should be back in business.
