Windows 7 PC are randomly losing icons.

Anyone seen Windows 7 eat icons from desktop? Not in recycle bin? Disappeared

Icons don’t show up in c:\users\User-Name\desktop\ folder either.

I tried re-creating the C:\Users\User-Name\AppData\Local\IconCache.db didn’t help

To solve the hidden icon problem in Windows 7:
1. Right click on the desktop
2. Select View, and ensure that Show desktop icons is ticked. If it is not, select it.

Icons on Desktop Missing (somewhere off the screen)
You can try getting around this one by:
1. Right click on the desktop
2. Select View, and select Auto arrange icons

I had this issue, ended up creating a folder on my desktop to include the shortcuts that kept being removed. I want to say I tried option 2 but it did not stop my shortcuts from being removed but this happened to me a long long time ago so my memory could be wrong.
